Oh, how lost I used to be I was drifting out to sea Seemed like hope was wearing thin Of being reeled back in Once afraid to face the world Til I got to know you, girl And now I can see What real love can be So, take me by the hand And we’ll go without a plan Climb the highest peak And write our history We may only have a day Before our dreams slip away But, I know that I can make it through As long as I’m with you I have made mistakes before I’ve been trapped behind closed doors I needed love to set me free And you were the key Now that the wind is at our backs No need to cover up my tracks There’s no need to run Whatever may come So, take me by the hand And we’ll go without a plan Climb the highest peak And write our history We may only have a day Before our dreams slip away But, I know that I can make it through As long as I’m with you Left or right, up or down Head in the sky, feet on the ground There is one thing I know, wherever we may go Doesn’t matter what we do As long as I’m with you So, take me by the hand And we’ll go without a plan Climb the highest peak And write our history We may only have a day Before our dreams slip away But, I know that we can make it through As long as I’m with you

Heart Lies 03:46
If I could find a metaphore, to help me say and underscore, why things between us just can’t move ahead. We are glasses once rose colored, now clear as day uncovered, thru which we see the scars of a heart misled. I thought you were the one, but I couldn’t make it true. My heart lies with her, and my heart’s lied to you. No No baby, you aren’t the little lady I thought. Can’t do this… Can’t do this anymore. No No baby, it’s no longer a maybe come on, been through this, been through this before. I’m like a toy you played with as a child, a diversion meant to make you smile, a shoulder there to cry on when your blue. I know I promised you the world, and you would be the only girl, but the world has turned me on to something new. You were the water that I hoped for, in a desert I tried to ignore, but a mirage is all that you turned out to be. I took a long hard look, used every trick in the book, and after all this time it’s plain to see. No No baby, you aren’t the little lady I thought. Can’t do this… Can’t do this anymore. No No baby, it’s no longer a maybe come on, can't do this, been through this before.

Disappear 04:14
Every step that she takes down the aisle, she gets further from me. Off to start her new life, while I’m dying inside, I hope to God she can’t see. The tears welling up as I think of what we could have been. And the pain’s flowing down, like the train from her gown, it’s TOO hard to hold it all in. Now I’m a moon without a glow, a sail without a boat, at sea. A tree without a leaf, faith without belief, or hope. Gotta find the strength, gotta find the strength to let go. We were too young to know what was right and what was real. It was fast, it was fun, but from the starting gun, we never took time to feel. But something deep down in my heart won’t let go, of how sweetly you gazed, while softly I played for you all the songs that I know. Now I’m a moon without a glow, a sail without a boat, at sea. A tree without a leaf, faith without belief, or hope. Gotta find the strength, gotta find the strength to let go. Here in this moment it all becomes clear. I have to stare into the sun to make her disappear. Make her disappear. Make her disappear. Make her disappear. Disappear. Disappear. Disappear. I wanna disappear.

Crash and burn, live and learn, and try again. It’s okay to make mistakes, now and then. I’m a blurry picture of a life, sometimes out of focus. If you look too close, you’ll hurt your eyes… and might notice… It’s a barefoot tap dance. I’ve worn through all my shoes, the comfort of my youth, disappeared. It’s a barefoot tap dance. I can move in all directions, but still see my reflection, crystal clear. It’s a barefoot tap dance. Make a dime, find the time, for everything. I’m the guy who wants to try all that life can bring. Come home late to an empty house, that’s just who I am. I need a girl who can keep in step, and understand. It’s a barefoot tap dance. I’ve worn through all my shoes, the comfort of my youth, disappeared. It’s a barefoot tap dance. I can move in all directions, but still see my reflection, crystal clear. It’s a barefoot tap dance. It’s a barefoot tap dance. I’ve worn through all my shoes, the comfort of my youth, disappeared. It’s a barefoot tap dance. I can move in all directions, but still see my reflection, crystal clear. I’m dancin’ away. Dancin away.

There is no you and me. Looking back it’s all too easy to see. It seemed all in good fun, but it had to be stage one. On our first date you went and named our second son. When I saw that new tattoo of my name on your arm I should of heard the sounds of the stage two alarm. Twenty two missed calls & voicemails my iPhone would say I was only in the bathroom, it was stage three that day. Now stage four was tricky…. Because I was asleep, When you cut my hair, put it in a jar to keep. You’re a stage five clinger, and that’s as bad as it gets . You’re a stage five clinger, it just hasn’t gotten through your head just yet. Its Facebook official, I’m single as a dollar bill. You’re bat shit crazy w/ your stalking skill. I changed my number, didn’t help me one bit. Getting rid of you is like getting the Marlboro man to quit. You’re a stage five clinger, and that’s as bad as it gets . You’re a stage five clinger, it just hasn’t gotten through your head just yet. You’re a stage five clinger, and that’s as bad as it gets . You’re a stage five clinger, it just hasn’t gotten through your head just yet. You’re a stage five clinger, and that’s as bad as it gets . You’re a stage five clinger. Don’t care if you were good in bed. I wish we had never met. Just hasn’t gotten through your head just yet.

Talk To Me 03:36
Do you start to shake without your cell phone, get at least a little twinge? Could a day go by without the web that didn’t make you cringe? Do shelter, food, and water rank lower than your smart phone? Got everything we need in hand, and yet we feel alone. Talk to me – why wont you look me in the eye. Can’t you see – the threads between us have untied. Help me please – you’ve gotta make me feel alive. Now from the stage I watch two people share a drink. I pour my heart out, but none one here can find a link. They sit in silence, with not a word to say. 140 characters, I think there’s a better way. Talk to me – why wont you look me in the eye. Can’t you see – the threads between us have untied. Help me please – you’ve gotta make me feel alive. It’s an optical illusion, no depth behind the screen. Enough to cause confusion, nobody’s who they seem. Have we let it go too far, to the point of no return. Slaves to all that we create, when will we ever learn. Talk to me – why wont you look me in the eye. Can’t you see – the threads between us have untied. Help me please – you’ve gotta make me feel alive. Talk to me – why wont you look me in the eye. Can’t you see – the threads between us have untied. Help me please – you’ve gotta make me feel alive. Talk to me – why wont you look me in the eye. Can’t you see – the threads between us have untied. Help me please – you’ve gotta make me feel alive.

As a little boy, I saw more than I should. Though I tried to keep my eyes, closed as tight as I could. We never did know who she’d be day to day. But you walked before me and chased all the demons away. We were nine years apart, but as close as my next breath. You were steady and calm, always there to protect. I was under assault, bombarded with fear. You rushed in and screamed at the silence, but she didn’t hear. Shelter me from the rain. Shield me from the pain. There’s no me without you. Without you. There is no me without you. Without you. Ohhhh, oh Once, the currents of life flowed toward North Caroline. The water was warm - it was finally your time. Swept up by the wind and a wife; Nearly took you away. You had every reason to go, but decided to stay. Shelter me from the rain. Shield me from the pain. There’s no me without you. You gave me hope. Helped me cope. Parted the clouds and allowed me to shine my own way. There’s no me without you. Without you. There is no me without you. Without you. Ohhhh, oh

about

Strongly rhythmic with fresh, charming lyrics, Dan Fisk's Drifting traces the path a heart takes on its sojourn through life.

Drifting rubs the edges of the singer-songwriter and country genres, transcending both with a unique, appealing sound. Produced, engineered and co-written by Dave Mallen, Drifting has a radio-ready quality that is not normally found in an independent CD.

Opening with a bouncy, pop-tinged song of finding love (As Long As I'm With You), Drifting shifts into a rollicking, funky break-up tune (Heart Lies) - and the road of love/loss/love-again begins. The contribution of talented musicians from Nashville and the Washington DC area, including Buddy Speir, Mike Smirnoff, Heather Mae and more, give Drifting its big, bold sound. A dirty slide guitar, a funky horn section, or 4-piece rock/country set-up – each backs and reinforces the message of the song, while staying true to the sound of the entire CD.

Confessional in the broadest sense, Fisk's heart beats with his songs, engaging in an emotional conversation with his audience. "Music allows me to have a dialog with people, where we can both feel the same feelings, but on a deeper level than we could if we were just talking to each other."

Drifting is Fisk's sophomore solo album; his first, Bruises From The Backseat, featured the award-winning song, A Thousand Love Songs (2009 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest/The Songwriters Association of Washington). He has opened for Jay Nash and Garrison Starr and others, and plays solo regularly in Washington DC, New York, North Carolina and Chicago, growing an loyal, expanding following.
